Land surveying and Sulu

In Sulu, an archipelagic province, surveying demand is shaped by fishing as the leading industry, extensive seaweed farming across nearly all of its island municipalities, and coconut cultivation that lines its coastlines and farmlands. Following the 2024 Supreme Court ruling that excluded Sulu from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region and Executive Order No. 91, the province was officially transferred to Region IX (Zamboanga Peninsula) in 2025. Titles are registered with the Registry of Deeds of the province under the Land Registration Authority, the municipal assessors handle tax mapping, and the DENR approves public land and cadastral surveys, with every plan signed and sealed by a Geodetic Engineer and referenced to PRS92. Lot and subdivision surveys, relocation and verification surveys, and coastal and foreshore surveys for island and shoreline properties are typical work across the province.
