What is drone mapping?

When is it not the right tool?

  • Boundary re-establishment: Property corners for legal purposes are set on the ground by a relocation survey, not from the air. Drone output supports, but does not replace, the legal survey.
  • Small urban lots: For a few hundred square meters, a total station or GNSS crew is faster, cheaper and (under trees and beside tall structures) often more accurate.
  • Heavily forested ground: Standard photogrammetry maps what the camera sees. Under closed canopy, the ground surface requires other methods; discuss the site honestly at quotation stage.
